Toyota keys vary more than most. Older Yaris, Corolla, Aygo and Hilux models use a bladed key with a G or H chip transponder; newer models, including hybrids such as the Prius, C-HR and RAV4, mostly use a Smart Entry & Start fob. When every key is lost on some Toyotas, the engine ECU’s immobiliser has to be reset before a new key can be added, which we do on site.

Why does an all-keys-lost Toyota take longer?
On many Toyotas, adding a key without a working one means resetting the engine ECU’s immobiliser first. It’s still done at the car, but it adds time.
My Toyota smart key isn’t detected.
A flat fob battery is the usual cause. The emergency blade inside the fob opens the door, and on many models holding the fob against the start button still starts the car. If not, the fob may need re-registering.
